The best wine bars in Sydney to ignore Dry January in

It's damp January at Poolside towers.

Let’s face it - Sydney boasts an incredible food and wine scene. Its wine bar scene is thriving, and with so many to choose from you’ll never be short of options. Here at Poolside we’ve rounded up some of our favourite wine bars for you to try. Whether you’re looking for the perfect evening unwind, a date with a partner, catch up with friends, or even a solo treat, there is quite simply something for everyone.

Lil Sis, Chippendale

Lil Sis is Chippendale’s late night wine bar and shop. As a neighbour to The Abercombie, the Lil Sis wine bar offers a charming, cosy and relaxed atmosphere to unwind. It feels more like a home (with excellent food and wine choices) than a bar, and offers beautiful small plates and an unreal wine selection. You’ll find tunes from lounge DJ sets running into the early hours and the site also doubles up as a bottle shop. Lil Sis is definitely a Poolside favourite.

Bar Copains, Surry Hills

Bar Copains is a must in Sydney. It’s effortlessly cool, unpretentious, relaxed, fun, and boasts a delicious menu. The Al fresco seating is perfect on a sunny day while the interior offers a stylish setting for any weather. Bar Copains is the type of wine bar you’ll find you keep coming back to.

No. 92, Glebe

No. 92 is one of Glebe’s best kept secrets. The converted Victorian Georgian terrace building shines on Glebe Point Road and inside you’ll find a modern, sleek setting with lounge music playing on the speakers and delicious food and wine to choose from. While it’s a wine bar and restaurant first, the cocktails are not to be missed. No. 92’s coconut negroni is like no other.

Beau, Surry Hills

Beau is the sister Surry Hills' Nomad. An intimate laneway wine bar and restaurant, Beau is romantic, stylish and sexy. The first thing you’ll notice when you enter is the glass-fronted wine wall behind the bar which offers a long list of wine to choose from. Beau is one of the only places in Sydney offering wine on tap and the menu offers a selection of modern Australian cuisine. You’ll quickly find yourself easing into the night.

Gildas, Surry Hills

Gildas is a slice of the Basque Country in Surry Hills. Created by the team behind Firedoor, you’ll quickly see and taste how much care and attention has gone into both the wine list and menu. You’ll find yourself working through the incredible food on offer, sipping beautiful wine, and before long you’ll be transported into the Spanish laneways and countryside from Sydney.
